Strategy 2024

Governance

The Stonefields School Board is entrusted to work on behalf of all stakeholders as trustees of the community and stewards of the Crown (Ministry of Education) and is accountable for the School’s performance. It emphasises strategic leadership, sets the vision for the School and ensures that it complies with legal and policy requirements.

Policies are at a governance level and outline clear delegations to the Principal. The Board and Principal form the leadership team with the role of documenting and understanding each policy. The Principal reports to the Board as a whole with committees used sparingly and only when a need is identified in order to contribute to Board work. The Board is proactive rather than reactive in its operations and decision making. It does not micro manage nor involve itself in the administrative details of the day-to-day running of the School. Enhancing student achievement is its focus.

Policies and Procedures

We have created a site for all of our School policies and procedures.  These are reviewed regularly on a 3-year cycle by the Stonefields School Board. Our policies and procedures have been well researched and follow the Ministry of Education National Administration Guidelines.

Reporting

The Education Review Office

The Education Review Office | Te Tari Arotake Mātauranga (ERO) is the New Zealand government’s external evaluation agency that informs and facilitates improvement in early learning services, kōhanga reo, puna kōhungahunga, kura and schools.

The Annual Report

The Annual Report is one of two key accountability documents that school Boards are required to use to inform and report to stakeholders such as the Ministry of Education, Members of Parliament and, most importantly, parents and the wider school community.

The Annual Report contains the annual financial statements that show how the Board has applied its financial resources to achieve its charter goals. It also contains an analysis of variance between the planned aims, objectives, directions, priorities, or targets and what the school actually achieved during the year.
